Professor Kaichi Kida

It is with great sadness that we report that Professor Kida recently passed away after bravely battling Pancreatic Cancer for the past 2 years. He has made an enormous contribution to improving the health of children with diabetes and has been a key leader in the development of education and research for paediatric endocrinology and diabetes in the Asia Pacific region. Kaichi was our inaugural Vice President and was President of APPES 2002-2004. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his wife Masako and the rest of his family.

Professor Kida has been posthumously honoured by one of Japan's highest civilian awards - 'The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette' (pictured)

Vale Kaichi, he will be sadly missed but we will remember him fondly.
