11th Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) Biennial Scientific Meeting in conjunction with the 42nd Annual Congress of the Malaysian Paediatric Association

APPES aims to hold a major regional scientific meeting in the field of paediatric endocrinology every 2 years. These have proved to be excellent meetings with a mixture of expert regional and international speakers and well attended by delegates from across the region. Travel fellowships are awarded to some trainees and presenters.
Malaysia is the host for the 11th Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) Biennial Scientific Meeting in conjunction with the 42nd Annual Congress of the Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA) to be held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, has been postponed to 25 – 28 November 2021.

The deadline for applications for the 21st APPES Fellows’ School Meeting has been extended to 25th June 2019.
APPES is pleased to announce the 21st APPES Fellows’ School Meeting, an interactive workshop for trainees in pediatric endocrinology from the Asia-Pacific Region. It is a wonderful opportunity for intensive education and interaction with colleagues and faculty from countries within the region. It will be held in Manila, The Philippines from Sunday 17th to Wednesday 20th November.
Course objectives:
To provide up-to-date postgraduate education for medical trainees in pediatric endocrinology from the Asia Pacific Region, covering major areas of pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. The course is designed for fellows who are in the later years of pediatric endocrine training (but not qualified endocrinologists). Applicants should have a reasonable amount of clinical experience.
To enhance learning using a variety of education formats including case presentations, formal lectures, small group discussion, and an endocrine quiz. There will also be opportunities to meet with faculty for informal teaching and mentorship.
To promote understanding about different management practices across the region.
Location and Dates:
The 3-day course will be held at The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila, Philippines from Sunday November 17th to Wednesday 20th, 2019. It will be held immediately prior to the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) meeting which is also being hosted in Manila, Philippines in 2019.
Faculty:
The experienced teaching faculty includes experts from the Asia Pacific region including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Philippines, and Malaysia.
How to apply and selection of fellows:
The application form can be downloaded from the link below.
You will need to have the following information / documents ready before you start your application:
(i) Participation at previous APPES fellows’ meetings
(ii) Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
(iii) Letter of endorsement/reference from the head of your department. Applications without a letter of endorsement will not be considered.
The documents are to be emailed to: fellows@appes.org
Fellows’ participation in the meeting will be confirmed by early August 2019.
Further details including preparation required for the meeting will be provided at that time.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are accepted, you will be asked to submit at least one clinical case for possible presentation at the meeting. This will be required within one month of acceptance. Full details and instructions will be sent with the acceptance letter.
Fellows do not need to be an APPES member to apply, but must be members of APPES to attend and a membership fee must be paid prior to the meeting starting.
Costs:
You will be responsible for funding your own flight to the hotel to attend the Fellows’ School.
There will be a cost to attend of US$350 per person. This amount is payable directly to APPES and can be paid either by credit card, direct bank transfer or can be paid when you arrive at the meeting.
Payment of registration will include:
* Accommodation (on a twin share basis and you will be allocated to share a room with another fellow). Accommodation on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night is included. If you would like a single room (for exceptional circumstances), please make this request during the application process. Accommodation at another hotel nearby will be organised but you will be responsible for any additional associated costs including the room, and transfers to the Fellows’ School venue.
* Transfers to and from the airport in Manila to Fellows’ School venue
* All meals and snacks during the course of the Fellows’ School.
